Narrative of report:   I am going to make this as brief as possible, I don't like to leave out anything during the incident, and it is still, and will always be like it just happened. This is the truth!

My buddy and I have been going down to (deleted) with girlfriends and friends for years, though it has been some time since I have been down there. We left on a Friday afternoon from Dallas for a couple of days of camping, hiking, and relaxing away from the city. Once we got there we found a campsite in the (deleted) park. The 1st site was always where we tried to get, just off of the white rock trail from the parking area. We set-up camp and made a trip to town for supplies. We got back to the site around dusk, and noticed there were a lot of people, families and others in almost every site in our area, about a 1/2 dozen or so in visible site. Normally we go alone, but have had our girlfriends at times with us as well, when they can take-it,so-to-speak. LOL. Chuck started a fire just as it was getting dark, there was a slight breeze, and no moon with a fair amount of clouds. We rocked-out with tunes and a couple of beers, only a couple, for about 4 hr.'s or so. Everyone else in the other sites had crashed-out for the night, so we turned the music down. I would guess it was just after midnight when we heard a car traveling down the approach road to the (road), sound travels as most experienced campers know, and was only about a mile away.

Then we heard the sound, the most unrecognizable noise made by anything or anyone I have EVER heard. Immediately after the sound, we heard the tires from the car screech/skid for a couple seconds and then the sound even louder a couple of times that sounded, well, more threatening is all I could describe it as, and then an impact of the car/vehicle into something. WE HEARD A SCREAM SOUND LIKE A WOMAN WAS BEING TORTURED, and then glass breaking, then silence! Well, I was so freaked-out as well as my buddy Chuck I noticed I was no longer sittin' on the log, I was wanderin' over to the darkness outside of the fires' light staring and listening, for anything, from the direction where we thought the sounds were happening.  After what seemed like a long time I told my buddy we ought to go and see if we could help if anyone needed it. We like to help people in need or if asked for as often as we can, it's kinda a thing I have been taught by my adopted parents to do, Texas up-bringin' and such. My buddy reminded me that the Park Ranger(s)/Attendants close/chain the metal gates so "free-loaders" can't avoid the Park fees. So, we sat back down and talked about it for a little while(about 15-20 min.'s), and then heard heavy, HEAVY footsteps coming towards our site in the dried-up waste high grass in the field opposite of the tree-line between us and the field. There are fences throughout the Park so I knew it wasn't a cow, and it was too Heavy-footed for a wild hog or campers dog, but there aren't any animals like horses or donkeys loose runnin' around. It sounded like a heavy man or woman, a human being on two legs for sure, no doubt coming close towards us. Then, as the steps got to the almost invisible tree-line, because out there at night darkness means DARKNESS, and whatever the fires' light gets, THAT'S IT, when the steps abruptly stopped, nuthin anymore, nuthin!

Just a little background on me and (deleted), I have been hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and exploring many, many areas of Texas as well as the US, under, above and below the surface, and (deleted) is pretty experienced as well and was in the Army stationed outside of Syracuse, New York with the Mountain Division(Triple Deuce-222), and we are both fairly accustomed to having and using weapons as needed, although we had no guns for that is strictly prohibited in State Parks as far as I know.

I yelled in the direction of the steps to "Identify" or suffer the consequences!  Again, and again I tried to warn or communicate that it is very unwise to approach a campsite w/o identifying oneself! Nuthin, not even a cricket or sounds of critters could be heard, NUTHIN! So, we both backed-up closer to the fire where we discussed approaching the area where the steps had stopped, but armed with our knives and walkin' sticks/clubs, so-to-speak, the tense feeling in the air was unbelievable, I mean all the hairs on my neck and arms were standin' straight an felt electrified. I had thought the other campers would wake and find out what the yellin' was about but not one person(s) or pet(s) made a sound or movement. Like many other reports I have read about grunts, growls, hoops and awful smells, there weren't any of those characteristics. About 15-20 min.s went by with us talkin' back and forth to each other partly freaked-out and partly angry that someone would be stupid enough to mess with two grown men with intent to defend themselves, and quite honestly approach and confront this "THING"! All of a sudden I counted 2 more VERY CLOSE AND HEAVY steps at the tree-line.  Branches in some of the smaller trees started snappin' and breakin' like something big was fallin' through them, or a tank was mowin' them over, so we jumped closer to the area like a couple of kids lookin' for snipe on a hunt(I hope you are aware of a snipe-hunt, I am sure you are). There were about a dozen snaps and cracks then the steps continued away from me(6ft. and muscular then and now) towards my buddy(smaller but fit and trained to kill if necessary). Well, I had had about enough of this and told (deleted) watch-out here it comes.  He started lungin' forward repeatedly in the darkness and was yellin' "It's right in front of me, it's right in front of me, but still just out of sight in the pitch-black out of fires'-light. After about 10-15 seconds he stopped lungin' and jumped back towards the fire and I did the same immediately and asked him if he got-'em, I was yellin' "Get-'Em (deleted), Get-'Em!" We both had our asses nearly in the fire we were so freaked-out when we heard again heavy footsteps moving quickly, it almost seemed like jogging, on and up the loose white rock trail towards the parking area. We froze for what seemed like an hour. or more scannin' the entire area around us, and of course my flashlight was right by my tent and I hadn't even thought about using it 'til the next mornin', both of us just froze-up mentally because of the whole deal goin' on.  I remember being mad at myself for not being more level-headed, that's kind-of my MO, so-to-speak.

We eventually went to our tents and turned-in, but as soon as dawn, or the first light came-up I was outta that bag and tent lookin' around. My friends all knew the two things that FREAK ME OUT are snakes, and BIGFOOT! I have been following the search and all related facts and info. regarding Sasquatch(s) and a possible undiscovered species like them since my first book report in grade school on monsters, you know, Lochness, Werewolves, Witches/Demons and UFO's. Anyway, I looked towards the other campsites in visible sight, and besides what looked like an abandoned two-person tent with garbage and supplies around it, NO-ONE, and I mean NO-ONE was at ANY site around us! I thought I was in the twilight zone or something! Dammit, I kept tellin' (deleted) to wake-up and look at what I was lookin' at! He cussed me a couple times an saw the same, and then we went over to the tree-line and saw about a 1/2 dozen 1/2in-2in branches snapped in a downwards direction in an area about 10-15 ft wide and about 8-12 ft high??? What The (expletive deleted)! Sorry, that's all I could say for about 10 min.'s. We then didn't even think to look for tracks or signs of what it was, we went straight to the parking area headed to the Park Rangers'/Attendants' Shack. When we got to the parking area, low-and-behold, there were only three cars/vehicles in a lot that was almost completely full (Prob. 50 or so spots I guess), which just shocked the hell outta us! How could this be? There wasn't ANYTHING, Nuthin' living and breathin' that tall in the area! We met a young couple at that time coming to one of the three remaining vehicles (besides mine), they were rapidly throwin there gear, small child and little dog in the car, and said that apparently somethin or someone had disturbed all the campsites in the Park that night, turnin' over people's stuff, gruntin',growlin, all the stuff we hadn't heard at all, and they took off after sayin' they were up all night and early mornin waitin' to get outta there! But how, the gates were chained?  We looked that way and they weren't chained, the chain was broke an layin' on the ground, also many, many tire tracks went around the gate support where people had just went around it.

We stayed another night (Sat. Night), hoping to see or hear somethin' again, but nuthin'. When we left, there weren't any people to talk to,just us, even no-one at the Park Shack which was kind-of normal I later found out, they patrol the Park Property and pick-up trash and such at times they said. Well,we thought the whole thing was done, over, but no, not a chance. We got on the road headed back towards the main hwy. that goes and leads to/through (deleted), when we saw a tree, don't ask me what kind, with an impacted area, bark and wood rubbed/torn from it about 2-3in.'s in, and what appeared to be glass, a headlight bulb and plastic from the headlight cover/frame on the ground. Well, that was about all I could take from that weekend, so we got back into my vehicle and sped-off back to Dallas. This incident is as clear in my mind today, since it happened, and I will forever live with the "Not-Knowing" part as long as I live. I have promised myself to never second-guess or question my mental stability, I am considered a pretty smart person and was not on drugs or drunk. If no-one else believes me, (my buddy barely does himself), I wouldn't care, but every time I do tell of my incident, it helps me move-on, and move forward, Thank you for listenin'!

"I believe in the POSSIBILITY, that the species did or does currently exist, and will research, and go on expeditions until confirmed one way or the other, I promised myself to do this!"
